Fight Training Modules

This 2005 film concerns itself with conditioning for fighters. Steve’s method is broken down for you into modules and demonstrated on film, together with examples of ways to organize the modules into your weekly training programme.

Disc One: Session

Complete training session filmed with a mixed group of students in Liverpool, outlining anaerobic threshold principle; fight training using man and equipment substitutions; strength/speed/agility/core stability/hand-eye coordination exercises; how to condition the hands, elbows, shins, body for striking; dynamic warmup using fundamental skills; technical drilling; cue drilling; and playfighting and conditional fighting on the feet open and closed, and ground positions. The last fifteen minutes or so provides a quick clinic on positioning and alignment for striking, and some bagwork. Approximately 3.5 hours.

Disc Two: PS

A Morris ‘PS’ filmed at home. A complete overview of the above. This includes discussion of home training, including demonstrations of Steve Morris’ unique methods in using the indoor bike and other home training methods that will enable you to make the most of your home training and save gym time for partner work. Approx. 90 minutes.

Disc Three: Supplementary Footage

An appendix of non-specific and specific exercises filmed in 2004 in Bath with Matt Pickard and Tom Crudgington. Plus some archive examples of bagwork and conditional fighting included purely to give you an idea of the intensity and dynamics that you need in your training. Approx. one hour.
